About The Shared Table

About me

Hi I’m Kate, I started my food journey working and travelling in New Zealand where I fell in love with the amazing food culture of fresh, seasonal and sustainable food. On my return to the UK I worked for many years for a leading event caterer based at the iconic Tate Galleries in London.

Many glamourous parties, premieres and product launches later I waved goodbye to the city to live by the sea with my partner and two young children and I’m now focused on bringing my experience and passion for good food to The Shared Table.

My food

Plentiful food designed for sharing with amazing tastes, textures and flavours from around the world.

I think good food is at the heart of any event. I create a communal dining experience with a variety of dishes and platters for guests to share, talk about and bond over.

Based in East Sussex, I am surrounded by vibrant, seasonal produce, which means I can create amazing food, whilst supporting local, small businesses and being as sustainable as possible because we love our planet.

I love to cook food that draws on my South Asian heritage using spices and herbs to create the fresh, exciting dishes that lend themselves so well to vegetarian and plant- based cooking.

For my husband's 40th we wanted to have a party at our house where we could have a much more relaxed setting than a restaurant, but treat out guests to some food that was equally great. Kate was a true professional from start to finish. She consulted me on the right menu for the occasion and was flexible and creative about what could work well together. On the day everything ran so smoothly and Kate produced delicious food for 30 with no fuss and with a party going on around her! The flavours were really interesting and the dishes felt very fresh. The kitchen was left spotless. Highly recommend

Kate at The Shared Table gave us the most delicious spread for lunch for our creative workshop. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and in very generous portions – which stood us in good stead as guests were going back for third and fourth helpings! It was a delightful change from the usual conference catering of sandwiches – the dishes were inventive and nourishing. Kate was also wonderful to work with, the whole process was very smooth and we'd love to use The Shared Table again.

Kate created the most beautiful spread of dishes for a party to celebrate my 40th birthday. The dishes were fresh and colourful, with a wide variety of textures and flavours. Each dish had its own identity! The flavours were so vibrant and the simple presentation was really beautiful. Kate was a joy to work with. She was accommodating and friendly. She had thought of everything and her involvement during the planning and coming together of my party meant I had a very easy time organising it all! I would heartily recommend Kate and hope to work with her again. Thank you Kate...your food was a pivotal part of a very special event.

I wanted to try something a little different for our party and was enticed by the variety and flavours of Kate’s ideas. Everyone was hugely impressed, I’ve had so many lovely compliments from our guests. Not only was the food delicious, but Kate herself is utterly charming and professional. Go ahead! I spoke to Kate and she really got the vibe that we were after. Something really tasty (that we would never attempt to cook ourselves) and something that everyone would enjoy. Kate put together a menu based on our discussions, including welcoming cocktails. She was super organised about everything. Everything was absolutely delicious and looked great. The samosas and the Bombay potatoes were particularly popular and everyone agreed they were hands down the best they'd ever had. Kate's also got great experience for the actual hosting part to ensure it goes smoothly so checked in with us regarding quantities of crockery, glasses etc that we already had and suggested hiring a few extra things that worked out really well. Kate prepped everything, served food and drinks throughout, and also made an amazing selection of desserts or pudding. It made for a lovely and very special evening - and one that we could actually enjoy rather than stressing about catering!
